U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says it doesn't object to construction plan

. October 14, 2008

APRIL 3, 2007. Columbia Entertainment announced today that it has been formally notified that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers does not object to Columbia's plan to build a new $60 million riverboat casino in Baton Rouge. The company will now move to apply to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board for the permits and approvals needed for the new 50,000 square foot facility.

The new riverboat, which is to be constructed in a basin, will feature a 30,000 square foot gaming area, restaurants, bars and other entertainment venues. The project will also include a new 380 car parking garage adjacent to the new casino. The location of the new facility will make it more convenient for patrons walking from the existing parking facility.

"The company has worked closely with regulators and public officials to get this project off the ground," said William J. Yung, III, CEO of Columbia Entertainment. "We will be able to make this investment in Baton Rouge because we enjoy the support and co-operation of the various government agencies, the Mayor of Baton Rouge, and other city officials, who see this project as an important economic stimulus for the community."

Garage construction is expected to begin in June 2007. Subject to approvals, Columbia hopes to commence construction of the Casino by October 2007. The new one story casino will have higher ceilings and cutting edge smoke removal systems that will make gaming more enjoyable for patrons.
