Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa Completes $100 Million Guestroom Renovation

. May 18, 2015

HONOLULU, HI. - May 18, 2015. Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa announces the completion of $100 million in design-forward renovations to each of the iconic resort's 1,230 guest rooms. The renovations began in June 2014 and mark Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa's ongoing commitment to serving as a pillar of hospitality in the local community while providing an exemplary Hawaii vacation experience to guests. To highlight the impressive refresh, the resort has developed a time-lapse video showcasing the transformation.

"We are so proud of the significant amount of thought and energy that went into completing these striking, modern updates to each of our 1,230 guest rooms," said David Nadelman, Area Vice President & General Manager, Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa. "These renovations are designed to accommodate the diverse and evolving needs of our guests, associates, and community, and we are thrilled to announce that we have successfully achieved that goal while uniquely reflecting the rich culture and vibrant spirit of our island locale in each and every room."

The renovations, which were helmed by Dallas-based design firm Looney Associates, are a significant contrast from the earthen palate and traditional elements of the previous rooms. Reflecting a more casual atmosphere to appeal to all types of travelers, the rooms now feature soothing shades of blue that evoke the sea and sky, with clean modern lines that draw subtle influence from Hawaiian culture. Long, thin desks with surfboard-shaped ends and Koa wood clocks provide a distinct sense of place, and breathtaking views of the ocean and Waikiki Beach seamlessly bring the outside in. The expansive size of the guest rooms - some of the largest in Honolulu - allow for 55 inch televisions and the unique option of one king or two queen Hyatt Grand Beds in each room. Each room also offers a number of new amenities implemented with ease and comfort in mind, including increased storage, hanging hooks, outlet pods, and dimmer-equipped light fixtures. A spa-like bathroom experience rounds out the renovation, with features including bidet-style Washlet toilets, new shower heads, and an expansive wet area. Images of the new rooms can be found here.

These renovations come on the heels of a number of other property improvements over the past five years, including a 2009 suite renovation; the 2011 $13 million renovation to the resort's dining outlets, Jacuzzi, Regency Club and lounge areas; and a recent expansion of the resort's Na Lea Terrace. The culmination of these refreshments signifies a marked investment in the resort's future, and ushers in a new era of commitment towards providing outstanding Hawaiian hospitality to guests for years to come.
