CMaech 26, 2014 - Chef Justin Hornyak has been named Chef of HB's on the Gulf, the beachfront restaurant at The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club in Southwest Florida. In his position he is responsible for overseeing the newly renovated restaurant's cuisine, kitchen staff, and food preparation. Hornyak, who joined the AAA Four-Diamond resort in August 2013, worked with his team to create virtually all-new lunch and dinner menus at HB's on the Gulf, which were launched in January 2014.

Prior to joining the resort in 2013 Hornyak served as Chef at Citrus Restaurant on 5th Avenue in Naples for nearly two years. Previous to that the 8-year culinary veteran was Sous Chef at Mary's Bistro on Mackinac Island in Michigan for four years, and Line Cook at Woodley Park Cafe in Washington, D.C. He holds an Associate's Degree from the Pennsylvania Culinary Academy/Le Cordon Bleu in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

HB's on the Gulf, which was renovated and expanded this past fall, now features a more open design to provide even more stunning views of the Gulf, as well as new windows, new furnishings and carpet, a new terrace floor with locally-sourced Playa Shell pavers, white-washed pecky cypress for the walls, and tropical Ipe wood for the deck and railings. The renovation project at the restaurant also included a new air conditioning system for the restaurant, as well as new ceiling fans, lighting, sound systems, awnings, and shutters.

The recently unveiled dinner menu, which is now available at the restaurant, features such new small plate offerings as Fried Duck Wontons, Sauteed Calamari, and Diver Scallops. New soup and salad options include Smoked Corn Chowder, Goat Cheese Croquette Salad, and Roasted Beets Salad. New large plate options include: Grilled Chicken Piccolini, Shrimp and Grits, and Pan-Seared Flounder with Tangerine Couscous.

HB's new lunch menu features many of the same new small plate options that are on the new dinner menu, as well as such new large plate options as Pork Belly Sliders, Grouper Tacos, and Snapper Sandwich. HB's on the Gulf is open daily for lunch from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., and nightly from 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. weeknights and 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. “Chef Justin and his team created superb new menus at HB's with absolutely delicious cuisine,” said Jason Parsons, general manager of The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club. “We are very proud to announce his promotion to Chef of HB's on the Gulf, which is very well-deserved.”

HB's on the Gulf, which recently captured the prestigious “Award of Excellence” from Wine Spectator magazine for the ninth consecutive year, specializes in fresh regional seafood, great steaks and American cuisine. The restaurant offers indoor dining with gorgeous views of the Gulf, as well as the new outdoor patio overlooking the water. Consistently recognized as one of Southwest Florida's best places to view a sunset, HB's is a zero transfat restaurant which serves an array of offerings, including a selection of natural and organic items. The restaurant serves the highest-quality products, which includes only line-caught fish, and animal products that are sourced from farms with the highest-quality standards that practice safe and humane treatment.

HB's impressive wine list features more than 150 selections from around the world, and a number of high quality small production wines.

The renovation of HB's on the Gulf follows a $5 million renovation at the resort that was completed in January 2013. That phase of renovations included the opening of the new Gulf-view ballroom The Everglades Room, the complete renovation of the remaining guest rooms in the resort's Florida Wing, and the complete renovation of the resort's Gulf-side meeting rooms and pre-function space. With the completion of these guest rooms, all of the resort's 319 guest rooms and suites have been renovated and remodeled over the last four years.

This $5 million latest phase of improvements followed $40 million spent by the resort over the previous five years. That multi-phase project included the renovation and remodeling of the other guest rooms and suites, enhancements to the golf course, the renovation and expansion of The Sunset Beach Bar & Grill, and the addition (in 2010) of a beautiful beachfront pool complex (with two new pools, two new whirlpools, a new pool bar with food service, new restrooms, new locker facilities, and a new pool shop).

Rich in family hospitality and tradition, The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club has resided on the Southwest coast in Naples, Florida since 1946. Owned and operated by the Watkins family for three generations, this 319-room and suite resort is Naples' only beachfront property with golf, spa, tennis and water recreation on-property. The resort is further complemented by an array of casual dining options, retail shops, beach rentals, 34,000 square feet of meeting space, and complimentary kids club.
