Marriott Simplifies Check-in for Federal Employees

. October 14, 2008

WASHINGTON, DC, March 15, 2007. Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) is making it easier for United States federal government employees to check-in to its hotels, as well as making guest rooms at the government rate more widely available.

Under the new Government Traveler ID program, U.S. federal government employees who book hotel stays with their government-issued credit cards are pre-qualified for the federal government rate. They will no longer have to show official government identification when checking-in, unless they booked their stay at the government rate using a personal credit card. Hotels are now enforcing the identification policy.

In addition, the new program will ensure that those booking the government rate are qualified to receive it. Implementing the program and reinforcing our identification requirements means more guest rooms at the government rate will be available to those who qualify for it, and they will be more likely to receive the rate at the hotel of their choice.

Today, all Marriott hotels in the U.S. that offer and accept government rate business are required to do so at rates that are consistent with the respective government per diem rate for their area. Participating Marriott International brands include JW Marriott, Marriott, Renaissance, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn, TownePlace Suites and SpringHill Suites. Those eligible to receive the federal government rate are U.S. federal government employees, active-duty U.S. military personnel, and employees of Federally Funded Research and Development Centers.*

*The government rate is not available to government contractors. However, many already have negotiated rates with Marriott International hotels. If they do not have a negotiated rate but know that they will be booking many future stays at a certain hotel, contractors can contact the hotel sales manager or Marriott International's global sales organization about a discounted rate.
