Fairmont Makes Worldwide Management Appointments
TORONTO, September 12, 2012 - Fairmont is pleased to announce several recent management and supervisory-level appointments at its properties worldwide. These include:
Karl Kruger , who joins Fairmont as general manager, Fairmont Newport Beach. With over 30 years of hospitality experience, Kruger is a valuable addition to the company having held progressive hospitality positions across the United States.
Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi welcomes Nils Axing to the role of general manager. Axing has worked in various hotels throughout Sweden and joins Fairmont from his most recent role as general manager for a prominent hotel in Amsterdam.
New to Fairmont is Mark Sawkins , who has been named general manager, Fairmont Zimbali Lodge and Fairmont Zimbali Resort. Sawkins brings a broad range of management experience in luxury hotels and resorts to his new role, beginning his career at a boutique hotel in Germany.
Henny Schaeffer , who has been appointed general manager, of the Fairmont Ajman, slated to open 2013. Schaeffer was instrumental in leading a task force for the opening of the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in 2012 and will be able to apply his leadership skills to the opening of Fairmont Ajman.
Fairmont Heritage Place, Ghirardelli Square, appoints David Burt to the role of general manager. With extensive experience in the hospitality industry, Burt brings valuable insight and knowledge to his role having most recently held the title of director, sales & marketing, The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa.
Martin Leclerc , who takes on the role of general manager, Fairmont Nanjing, China, expected to open in 2013. Leclerc heads to the south bank of the Yangtze River from beautiful British Columbia where he leaves his most recent role as general manager, The Fairmont Empress.
In Saudi Arabia Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel, appoints Abdel Aziz Eid to the role of hotel manager. Having begun his career in Athens nearly 30 years ago, Eid has held a series of progressive positions within the hospitality industry.
Daniela Bromfield , who joins the company as director, global accounts, Germany and Eastern Europe. Beginning her career in Frankfurt, Bromfield has held various sales roles around the world and was most recently director of sales & marketing, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, for a boutique hotel company.
Patrick Lamy , who takes on the role of hotel manager, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, Montreal. Lamy brings a wealth of experience to his position including teaching credentials from ITHQ/UQAM's Hospitality Management Program.
Brett Hickey , who has been named director of operations, Fairmont Beijing. Joining the company in 1996 in the reservations department, Hickey was most recently the director of operations, Fairmont Yangcheng Lake, Kunshan.
Fairmont Heliopolis & Towers, Cairo is pleased to welcome Hala Sabry to the role of director, sales & marketing. For nearly a decade, Sabry has worked within the Egyptian hospitality industry holding a series of positions at major hotel companies.
Cladys Magagna , who takes on the role of executive chef, Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi. Magagna brings an international palate of culinary flare to his new role, having worked in kitchens from Italy to Austria to Bermuda and most recently Mexico, where he was the executive chef for The Fairmont Acapulco Princess and The Fairmont Pierre Marques.
Paul Peddle , who joins the kitchens of The Fairmont Palliser, Calgary as executive chef. With nearly two decades' worth of culinary experience, Peddle heads to the Stampede city from his most recent role as executive sous chef, The Fairmont Dallas.
