Fairmont Announces Personnel Appointments

Fairmont announces several recent management and supervisory-level appointments at its properties worldwide. These include:

Dan McGowan , who has been named general manager, The Fairmont Palliser in Calgary. Since joining Fairmont in 1992 at The Fairmont Chateau Whistler, McGowan has held several progressive positions, including conference services manager, revenue manager, director of rooms and most recently, general manager of The Fairmont Vancouver Airport.

Mohammed Abdulaziz Siddiqi to the role of general manager, Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel in Saudi Arabia. Siddiqi brings a wealth of hospitality and restaurant experience to his new role.

Fairmont St Andrews, Scotland appoints Garrett Turta to the role of general manager. He heads to Scotland from his most recent position as general manager, The Fairmont Algonquin, New Brunswick.

Michael Pye , who takes on the job of general manager, The Fairmont Winnipeg, Manitoba. Most recently, Pye served as director of operations at The Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda.

The Fairmont Jaipur, India, set to open in 2011, is pleased to welcome Atul Lal l as general manager. Lall's career spans nearly two decades and has taken him worldwide where he has worked in a variety of hospitality positions. He joins Fairmont from Keys Hotels.

Alexander Pichel , who joins Fairmont as general manager, Fairmont Baku, Azerbaijan. Pichel comes to Fairmont with over a decade's worth of hospitality experience. His career has taken him across Europe including his most recent position as general manager/director general for a luxury hotel in Russia.

Rita Healy , who takes on the role of hotel manager, The Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda. A 20-year hospitality vet, Healy was most recently hotel manager, The Fairmont Turnberry Isle. Healy brings extensive front of house and heart of house knowledge to her new role.

Fairmont Mayakoba, Mexico, has appointed Richard Silvester to the role of executive chef. Having worked in destinations from Jamaica to Romania, Silvester brings a wealth of culinary expertise and a diversity of flavors and skills to his new role.

New to Fairmont is Jerry Moynihan , who has been appointed director of engineering, Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.Moynihan brings over a decade of engineering experience within the hospitality industry to this position and joins Fairmont from his most recent role as director of property operations, Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort.

An Verbeeck , who has been named director, sales & marketing, Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows. Verbeeck, who has held a series of progressive sales and marketing positions throughout her career, most recently held the position of director, business travel at the hotel.

Shahab Abbas , who returns to Fairmont as director, global accounts. Abbas returns to Fairmont after a stint serving as a group sales manager for another major hotel chain. Prior to his latest role, Abbas worked as group sales manager at The Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows.
