Hotel Carl Gustaf in St Barths Re-opens November 5th

. September 09, 2010

September 8, 2010 - After a quick nip-and-tuck, the Hotel Carl Gustaf, one of St Barths' most esteemed luxury hotels, will re-open on November 5th with new management and minor improvements to the public spaces and fourteen individual one- and two-bedroom cottages. In addition, a new sales office has been opened in the US, making it easier than ever for guests to book.

Over the past two years the Carl Gustaf has undergone substantial renovations, additions and upgrades including the completion of the 2,600 sq-ft, four-bedroom Royal Suite, the renovation of fine dining gastronomic restaurant Victoria's and the addition of the 1,600 sq-ft Boutique Spa by Carita.

The re-opening will also unveil the finishing touches which have just been completed on the new four-bedroom Royal Suite. The sprawling suite was created by French yacht designer Franck Reynaud to evoke the sleek and classic-yet-chic design of the most luxurious yachts in the world.

Perched on highest point of the hotel's grounds and overlooking Gustavia Harbor with several terraces, the secluded Royal Suite is perfect for lounging in the sun, taking a dip in the plunge pool or hosting a sunset cocktail party (the hotel's westward view over the harbor is the island's best spot for sunset watching.) The fully equipped kitchen and large dining area can easily accommodate private parties (a chef can be arranged), or even weddings. The separate entrance means guests don't even have to walk through the hotel lobby.

Also recently completed is the 1,600 sq-ft Boutique Spa by Carita with a Hydro Zone that includes oil-essence infused showers and steam rooms, an outdoor relaxation area, two treatment rooms (including one for couples) an outdoor Jacuzzi.

Victoria's is helmed by Chef Emmanuel Motte who uses traditional French technique along with fresh, local Caribbean produce and ingredients to create intensely flavorful dishes - from the incredibly inventive to the classics.

The Carl Gustaf Lounge next door to Victoria's remains a local's favorite spot for a sunset cocktail and conversation, and the new small-plate “trilogy” bar menu offers three unique takes on one particular ingredient (for example: Caribbean lobster roasted medallions, Caribbean lobster fritters and Caribbean lobster salad).
