Hotel Keen Opens May 2010 in Palo Alto: the Cutting Edge of Comfort

New Hotel Concept for Hip and Savvy Travelers

. March 24, 2010

Palo Alto, CA - (March 23, 2010) - In May 2010, Hotel Keen will launch as a new stylish boutique hotel in downtown Palo Alto and the latest addition to the BPR Properties' hotel group. From its modern and efficient guestrooms to amenities fit for the hip and sophisticated traveler, the 42-room hotel does not skimp on design, comfort, or value, with room rates starting at $145 per night.

Purchased in 2008 by BPR Properties, the former Palo Alto Hotel has been transformed into the Hotel Keen with high style and technology in mind. Designed by renowned Orlando Diaz-Azcuy Design Associates based in San Francisco and New York, the colors, lines and shapes throughout the hotel evoke a productive environment suitable for the 21st century guest.

Checking into the hotel, guests will be greeted by their own “personal concierge” with Hotel Keen's staff providing service tailored to each individual. The lobby will be the place for visitors to energize and prepare for the day and relax and unwind in the evening. The hotel has incorporated services designed for the busy and active lifestyle including complimentary grab-and-go breakfast, a shared honesty bar, and nightly regional wine tastings in the lobby.

Upon entering their guestrooms, the compact room design provides for form, function, and flair without compromising comfort and service. Utilizing the room space to its fullest, each room includes a custom-built, innovative bed and desk combination with an ergonomic desk chair. Writable and erasable white board walls for those late night brainstorm sessions, Nintendo Wii™ in-room rentals and 37” flat screen televisions with high definition programming complete the guestroom experience. As an added service, Hotel Keen's “Pillow Butler” will ensure a restful slumber for every guest and will provide a pillow menu to select from including hypoallergenic down to foam.

In line with BPR Properties' unparalleled eco-practices, each guestroom includes restrooms with low flow toilets, on-demand instant hot water heating system, eco-friendly bath products, in-room recycling receptacles and recyclable products.

“Hotel Keen is setting the bar for travelers who are seeking a hotel that fits their lifestyle,” says David Issel, Vice President, Operations for BPR Properties. “Like its name - from the room design to the accommodating and attentive staff - everything about Hotel Keen is sharp, efficient, well defined and thoughtfully designed.”

With close proximity to bustling University Avenue shops and restaurants and just minutes from the Stanford University campus and Silicon Valley's established and emerging corporations, guests are provided with access to a local health club, dry cleaners, and numerous options for dining and shopping. The nearby Caltrain station allows for easy access to San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area.
