ASPEN, CO - March 15, 2010 - Shawn Thomson, owner of Rocky Mountain Connections, proudly announced the appointment of Nathan Boyd to president. In this newly-established role, Boyd takes the helm of the full-service destination management and special events company, overseeing business operations for six offices spanning Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. Boyd will leverage his hospitality experience in group sales and marketing to help Rocky Mountain Connections strengthen and develop regional hotel partnerships, drive new business development, augment its existing services portfolio and employ social media tactics to bolster the company's online presence. Furthermore, he plans to leverage his award-winning skills in sales and customer service excellence to further the company's foothold in the Rocky Mountain region. Boyd currently manages operations from the Vail office, but will relocate to the company's Aspen-headquarters by fall.

Boyd recently enjoyed a four-year term at The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch in Beaver Creek, Colo., where he served as Director of Sales and most recently as the Director of Sales and Marketing. During his tenure at the world-renowned resort, Boyd oversaw revenue management, marketing, client communications and business development. Under his direction, his team surpassed projections, reaching an all-time high of 114 percent of Total Transient Revenue in 2006, earning him a 2006 Leisure Sales Team of the Year award for the Western Region and a 2nd place ranking for his hotel among the The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company portfolio of properties. In 2007, he continued to meet and/or exceeded customer quote benchmarks, earning him a top-performer 5 Star Leader ranking for first quarter, 2007.

Prior to The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch, Boyd spent four years as an integral part of The St. Regis Resort Aspen, where he moved up the ranks to serve as Senior Sales Manger. Highlights of his accomplishments included winning the 2004 Starwood Leisure Sales Manager of the Year award for his ability to significantly increase revenue and Average Daily Rate among the hotel's top 25 travel agencies from the previous year. Boyd respectfully held various other sales positions at Vail Valley Tourism and Convention Bureau, Vail Cascade Resort & Spa and Vail Resorts Management Company - and proudly maintains many strong relationships from his time there.

“Rocky Mountain Connections' 2010 business pace is already showing encouraging signs of a steady recovery and return to pre-economic decline in business and incentive travel,” said Thomson. “With several hotels due to open in our regional office areas, we needed a strong leader to take the reigns and drive inspiration, confidence and creativity through all levels of the organization. Nathan is that leader and we are excited to see the ingenuity of his talents at work for our clients and partners.”

When Boyd is not traveling from one office to the other, he enjoys being outdoors, be it on the golf course, on the river casting a line or hitting the slopes for some powder time. Boyd graduated Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and then relocated to the Vail Valley where he met his wife and currently resides with his daughter.
