January 20, 2010 - Brussels-based hotel management company The Rezidor Hotel Group announces the opening of its first property in the Spanish capital, and the latest in its portfolio of stylish boutique hotels in major European cities.

Radisson Blu Madrid Prado is a new boutique hotel located directly across from the Prado Museum. Its 54 chic guestrooms were created by Spanish interior design team Sandra Taruella and Isabel Lopez.

"This hotel is a perfect addition to the young and stylish portfolio of Radisson Blu," commented Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor. "We are delighted to be present in the key market of Madrid now and look forward to our further future business development in Spain."

Situated across from the Prado Museum, Radisson Blu Madrid Prado is adjacent to the new Caixa-Forum cultural center and within walking distance of major Madrid attractions including the Golden Triangle of Art's Thyssen Bornemisza Museum and Reina Sofia Museum. Luxury shopping on nearby Gran Via and Madrid's famous nightlife are also within walking distance.

The hotel's 54 guestrooms feature playful, individualized interiors by Sandra Taruella and Isabel Lopez. Highlights include oversized photographs of Madrid underscored with soft lighting, and a sleek grey and brown to reflect the hotel's modern aesthetic. All guestrooms offer complimentary high-speed internet access and bath amenities by Paris' Anne Semonin.

Specialty grill The Cask offers guests an array of prime cuts cooked to order as well as a vegetarian menu, and is complimented by a bar and lounge providing cocktails and a menu of modernized tapas. The hotel's Whiskey Bar features over 20 single malts and is located in the hotel's courtyard, which has glass walls and views of the Madrid skyline.

Radisson Blu Madrid Prado also features a sleek urban spa, offering an indoor pool, steam room, spa treatments and a fitness center with modern, minimalist design.

Meetings and events facilities at the hotel include a 465-square-foot, highly contemporary conference area. This space can be divided into three separate boardrooms or combined to incorporate a built-in bar area, bringing the total space to 960 square feet. Complimentary high-speed internet access and highly trained event staff is available to all hotel meeting guests.

Radisson Blu Madrid Prado is the latest in Rezidor's "new breed" Radisson Blu boutique hotels in major European cities. In 2009, two signature boutique hotels opened in Paris' 16th arrondissement. In 2010, boutique hotel Radisson Blu Milan will open in Italy's fashion and business capital.
