SINGAPORE, 13 January 2010 - Swissotel Merchant Court is pleased to announce the appointments of new Food & Beverage Manager, Aznan Bin Mohamed Shariff and Executive Chef Robert Chan, to helm its food and beverage and culinary team. With over a decade experience in the food and beverage industry, both Aznan and Chef Robert will work seamlessly to elevate the dining experience for our guests.

has over 15 years of experience in the culinary world. As the new Executive Chef of Swissotel Merchant Court, Robert leads the culinary team of more than 50 chefs, planning and overseeing the operations of the hotel's dining outlets and banquets.

Robert who specialises in Western cuisine, has had the experience of heading the kitchen teams of high volume hotel, restaurant and catering operations. He has managed the kitchens at various renowned food and beverage establishments ranging from Hard Rock Cafe Singapore, L'Aigle d'Or restaurant to Emerald Hill Group. Robert's last appointment was at Pan Pacific Orchard where he set up and developed creative concepts to revamp the restaurants.

Not a stranger to culinary accolades, Robert was listed by UOB as one of the Top 20 Chefs in Singapore in 2009. He had also brought the restaurants which he has managed, to greater heights. In addition, Robert is also a member of the prestigious Chaîne des Rotisseurs as Chef Rotisseur. He has also amassed several restaurant awards conferred by prominent organisations and publications for his professional culinary expertise.

Robert's dedication to the culinary field is clearly seen from his vast experience. His personal strengths lie in creativity and daring to try. In this aspect, he hopes to invent interesting banquet menus for the hotel's wedding guests as well as corporate delegates. Robert seeks to continue his pursuit for culinary excellence and propel the F&B at Swissotel Merchant Court to new heights.

Food & Beverage Manager, Aznan Bin Mohamed Shariff

With 14 years of experience in food and beverage operations in the hotel industry, Aznan has held several positions in Swissotel The Stamford, Singapore. Aznan started his career as a team leader at an Italian restaurant in the then Westin Stamford and Westin Plaza and rose through the ranks over the years.

Prior to joining Swissotel Merchant Court, Aznan was the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager at Swissotel The Stamford where he managed five restaurants under the hotel's extensive food and beverage portfolio. Aznan will oversee the operation of the hotel's food and beverage outlets, including the renowned Ellenborough Market Cafe as well as the banquet operations.
