Renaissance Providence Hotel Hires New Director

Michael Barrett to lead hotel's marketing and sales efforts.

January 06, 2010 - The Renaissance Providence Hotel, an upscale, arts-inspired hotel affiliated with the Marriott portfolio of branded luxury hotels, has named industry veteran, Michael Barrett, as the hotel's director of marketing and sales. In this role, Barrett will use his extensive industry expertise to enhance the hotel's current marketing and sales efforts.

“Mike joins our team with a wealth of hotel industry experience that will be an asset to our marketing and sales outreach,” said Angelo De Peri, general manager of the Renaissance Providence Hotel. “We look forward to Mike's leadership as we expand and drive awareness of the hotel and its unique offerings.”

With more than 25 years of industry experience, Barrett joins the hotel after leading sales and marketing efforts at several well-known hotels, such as the Charles Hotel in Cambridge, Mass., and the Providence Biltmore Hotel, and the Westin Providence Hotel. Most recently, he served as director of group sales at the InterContinental Boston.

Barrett, a resident of Boston Mass., holds a bachelor's degree in hotel management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
