Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa, Kota Kinabalu Announces New Appointments

Andrew Steele, general manager of Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa, Kota Kinabalu, is pleased to announce the appointments of Tommy Kennington as director of recreations, Harry Tan as assistant director of food and beverage, Pang Boon Aik as service manager, Samantha Siow as communications manager and Wendy Yong as sales manager.

Mr. Kennington will assume responsibility for the resort's recreational sport operations including co-ordination of leisure activities, management of the health club, maintenance of facilities and equipment and supervision of health evaluation programmes for employees. Mr. Kennington possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Florida, Gainesville.

Mr. Tan, the newly appointed assistant director of food and beverage will be responsible for the efficient running of the department and supporting the director of food and beverage in areas of operations to ensure the smooth running of all outlets and banquet operations. Mr. Tan has just successfully completed the Shangri-La Corporate Management Programme.

Mr. Pang will be accountable for the daily operations of the resort's Italian restaurant; Peppino's, including the monitoring of food and service quality, implementation of promotions, menu engineering and cost control. Mr. Pang's professional experience includes working for Restaurant Lafite, Lemon Garden Cafe and Cinnamon and Zipangu Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur.

Ms Siow will be responsible for the implementation and execution of the resort's overall brand standards, supporting the director of communications on local and international public relation programmes and activities and managing internal and external communications. She possesses a Bachelor's degree in Creative Advertising and Marketing from Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand.

Ms Yong's responsibilities in the sales team include meeting overall sales targets and objectives, maintaining customer relations, identifying new business opportunities and developing new marketing strategies to boost revenue and team performance. She is a tourism graduate from RMIT, Melbourne.
