Patrick Newman Appointed Exec Chef at InterContinental Stephen F. Austin

AUSTIN, TX, November 24, 2009 - Sharon Kilmartin, general manager at the InterContinental Stephen F. Austin, has announced the appointment of Chef Patrick Newman as the hotels' new Executive Chef.

Raised in Louisiana, Chef Newman will oversee the culinary direction of the hotel and its centerpiece venue the Stephen F's Bar & Terrace, a club-style bar with a wrap around terrace showcasing spectacular views of the Capitol providing guests with upscale appetizers, an extensive tequila menu and a variety of wine selections; Cafe Julienne, a casual breakfast restaurant and in-room dining.

In his new role, Chef Newman will begin creating for the hotel a menu to showcase market-driven, seasonal fare.

“Chef Newman is an extraordinary talent and we are extremely pleased to have him onboard. We believe that with his help, the InterContinental Stephen F. Austin will raise the bar for great food,” said Kilmartin.

Prior to his appointment, Chef Newman was the Executive Sous Chef at the 485-room InterContinental Houston at the Galleria. In addition, he's held a variety of culinary positions including Chef de Cuisine to open the Hilton America in Houston, Texas; Executive Sous Chef at the Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter of New Orleans, and the Executive Sous Chef at the Four Diamond Mills House Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina.

Chef Newman graduated from Johnson & Wales University in 1999 with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Culinary Arts.
