Rezidor Opens Radisson Blu in Tunisia

NOVEMBER 6, 2009 - The Rezidor Hotel Group, the Brussels-based hotel management company, announces the Radisson Blu Resort & Thalasso, Monastir in Tunisia. The second Radisson Blu resort in Tunisia, the newly re-branded 280-key hotel is set on a five-hectare beachfront site facing the Gulf of Hammamet in the Mediterranean Sea.

Resort accommodations include 264 guestrooms, 14 junior suites and 2 senior suites. All rooms are equipped with complimentary high-speed internet access and a private balcony or terrace overlooking the pool area and Mediterranean Sea.

The resort's 150,000-square-foot Royal Elyssa Spa Cinq Mondes & Thalasso will feature a 48,000-square-foot Thal'ion Thalasso center, specializing in restorative treatments using seawater, and a 43,000-square-foot Cinq Mondes Spa. The facilities will open early 2010, and will also provide a I'Usine fitness club and an Eric Zemmour hairdressing salon. The Spa & Thalasso will offer guests saunas, hammams, treatment rooms and food and beverage outlets. The top floor of the spa will feature 20 unique spa suites, ranging from 750 to 2,700 square feet, many with private jacuzzis and beauty treatment rooms.

Resort ammenities at the Radisson Blu Resort & Thalasso Monastir include three restaurants, six bars and lounges, several indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and athletic facilities such as; tennis, beach volleyball, water polo, aerobics, jet skiing, water skiing and canoeing. The fitness center features a wide variety of the latest equipment and children are welcome at the dedicated Mini Club.

Ideal for events from small meetings to large groups and weddings, the resort offers three versatile and elegant meeting rooms and a 4,300-square-foot ballroom. A range of tented enclosures can be erected on the grounds for outdoor events, and a garden area can accommodate 600-800 guests. The fully equipped Business Center provides complimentary high-speed wireless internet for all resort guests.

The town of Monastir is just two and a half miles from the resort, and easily accessible by bus and metro services as well as private car. Nearby attractions include Monastir's Ribat of Harthema, one of North Africa's oldest fortresses, dating back to 796AD. It now houses the Museum of Islamic Art, home to a collection of ancient Islamic writings, fabrics, pottery and astrolabes. Visitors to the city can also visit Bourguiba Mosque, a prayer hall featuring 86 pink marble pillars, and Monastir's buzzing medina, the traditional North African old town. The resort is also approximately four miles from the Marina Cap Monastir and about three miles from the Flamingo and Palm Links golf courses.

The Radisson Blu Resort & Thalasso, Monastir joins another resort in Tunisia, the Radisson Blu Resort & Thalasso, Djerba. The new resort is the latest in Radisson Blu's demonstrated resort development, which includes two new properties this year in Cesme, Turkey and Dubrovnik, Croatia.
