Kimpton Appoints Deborah Mccluskey to GM of Ink48

. November 03, 2009

OCTOBER 29, 209 - Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants announces the appointment of Deborah McCluskey to the position of general manager for Ink48, the hotly anticipated Hell's Kitchen hotel, located at 653 11th Avenue and 48th Street. Ink48, formerly the VU Hotel, is named to reflect the building's printing press history. While work continues on two destination restaurants, a three-story rooftop addition and presidential suite, Ink48 is now offering a “rough draft” rate that is a 48 percent savings off standard rack rates, which start at $429 per night.

McCluskey aims to make the new upscale Ink48 hotel a true urban retreat that is close enough to the city's epicenter, yet just off the beaten path in one of the city's most historic neighborhoods. This 222-room, 17-story hotel, which is operated by Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, features an inviting roof-top lounge, open-air gardens, and unobstructed panoramic views of Times Square and the Hudson River. McCluskey will oversee the daily operations of Kimpton's iconic guest experiences, such as the hosted evening wine hour, the Mind.Body.Spa. wellness program, pet friendly services and amenities, and the Women InTouch program that celebrates and cares for women travelers.

“Kimpton is known for taking great care of its guests and Ink48 will leave a lasting impression on those who stay here with stylish and inviting design and an array of playful programs and signature amenities,” said McCluskey. “We want to become an anchor in the re-emergence of Hell's Kitchen which has grown to be a vibrant destination in this amazing city.”

Ink48's new general manager most recently held the same position at The Empire Hotel in New York. She oversaw all hotel operations for the 413-room hotel and achieved a hotel profit of $8 million in the first five months of operation. Prior to working at The Empire hotel she worked for Starwood Hotels & Resorts for six years. Her most recent position was general manager of the W New York, the Court & Tuscany. At the W she increased overall guest satisfaction and service composite scores and meeting planner satisfaction over previous years.

McCluskey was also hotel manager at the Sheraton Russell Hotel in New York and Regional Director of Revenue Management for the Mid-Atlantic Region for Starwood. Earlier in her career she held various positions with American Continental Corporation, Park Lane Hotels International and Marriott Hotels, Resorts & Suites. McCluskey graduated from Arizona State University and taught at New York University's School for Continuing Education 'Accelerated Hotel Operations.'
