Wyndham Sugar Bay Appoints GM

Kashmie Ali, CHA has been appointed General Manager of the 300-room Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa. Ali will be responsible for the 31-acre resort, including oversight and management of the nearly 300-member staff, all food and beverage outlets and sales and marketing initiatives.

Ali arrives at the Wyndham Sugar Bay with an impressive background in the hospitality industry that spans nearly two decades in the United States and the Caribbean. He began his career as General Manager with American General Hospitality in Dallas, Texas, responsible for various hotel brands throughout Florida, Ohio, Connecticut, Tennessee and Virginia. From there, Ali became Vice President of Operations for Virginia-based Shamin Hotels with oversight of operations and management for 11 franchised hotels. In 2001, he joined Sandals Resorts International as Director of Operations for their four all-inclusive resorts in St. Lucia and Antigua. Just prior to his appointment at Wyndham Sugar Bay, Ali was the Director of Operations for the five-star Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet boutique resorts in St. Lucia.

While in St. Lucia, Ali held the position of first Vice President for the St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association. He is also a Trustee of The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences and recipient of numerous industry awards, including the Sterling Services Worldwide Award (2005 and 2008); Hotel of the Year for Shamin Hotels (1998); and Best Overall Performer, General Manager of the Year Nominee and General Manager of the Quarter for American General Hospitality (1997).

Ali holds a Certification in Hospitality and Destination Management from George Washington University; Applied Science in Business Management certification from Tech College in Trinidad; and his Certified Hotel Administrator designation.
