Rosewood Promotes Gerard Sclafani to Corporate Director

OCTOBER 6, 2009 - Rosewood Hotels & Resort, the premier manager of ultra-luxury hotels and resorts throughout the world, is pleased to announce the promotion of Gerard Sclafani to the position of Corporate Director of Travel Industry Sales effective September 2009. In his new role, Sclafani is responsible for overseeing partnership programs within the retail travel community, focusing primarily on Rosewood's proprietary travel industry program, Rosewood Elite. Sclafani has been with Rosewood for 14 years, most recently as Director of Marketing for the award-winning Rosewood Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda, B.V.I.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts' Vice President of Sales, Ralph Aruzza developed the position for Sclafani, who has extensive experience in the travel industry. "Gerard has nurtured excellent relationships with our Retail Travel partners. Rosewood is very focused on enhancing our existing market share within this constituency and Gerard is the obvious choice to direct that effort," Aruzza said. "We're fortunate to have him on our team."

A New York native, Gerard graduated from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Niagara University. After spending three years working for Japan Travel Bureau in New York as Hotel Purchasing Manager, he then moved to Tokyo to teach English at Kanda College as he studied Japanese. As his career progressed, Gerard gained valuable experience working for legendary hospitality companies including The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company as a Sales Manager and The Four Seasons Resort Nevis as Director of Travel Industry Sales. He is a past president of the 4174 club and he spent four years on the Virtuoso Hotels Committee.
