Ghostbar Opens Atop the New W Tower in Dallas

The N9NE Group's surrealistic lounge debuts on the top floor of Texas' first W Hotel

. October 14, 2008

DALLAS, TX, June 8, 2006, Occupying the top floor of Dallas' sensational new W Hotel, the centerpiece of downtown's $3 billion Victory Park development, is the legendary ghostbar, a surrealistic lounge from the pioneering dining/entertainment company, the N9NE Group. With its stunning d'ecor, unsurpassed energy, beautiful clientele and spectacular city views, ghostbar will prove to be an instant Dallas classic.

The N9NE Group, founded by innovative entrepreneurs Michael Morton and Scott DeGraff, operates restaurants and nightspots in Chicago, Las Vegas and Dallas. The first ghostbar debuted upstairs from the original N9NE Steakhouse in Chicago in 2000, with the Las Vegas edition opening the following year in the popular Palms Casino Resort.

The new Dallas ghostbar occupies the most coveted space in the city, on the very top floor of the first W Hotel in Texas. The stunning hotel/condominium project is located in downtown Dallas' Victory Park development, master-planned by Ross Perot, Jr.'s Hillwood Development Corporation, which the N9NE Group's DeGraff describes as, "the premier development in America." The only thing in the W tower that sits higher than ghostbar is a heliport accommodating the most exclusive guests of the chic hotel. When that heliport receives the world's most famous performers for appearances at local venues, cameras on the roof are able to transmit video to ghostbar and other N9NE Group locations. Reflecting the N9NE Group's confidence in Victory Park and the city of Dallas is its 2006 opening of a N9NE Steakhouse, Nove Italiano and Stuff retail store in one of the development's plaza buildings, followed by the debut of Liquid Sky, an exclusive nightspot, in 2007.

Accessing the building through a private, dedicated entrance, guests ride a special express elevator to ghostbar, and although the 33-floor trip skyward takes only seconds, it's enough for the anticipation of the evening to fully build. When the doors silently slide open, the sparkling, ever-changing Dallas skyline surrounds a captivating glass-ensconced, airborne ultra-lounge. With floor-to-ceiling windows, the space appears to be floating in the sky, an illusion enhanced by ghostbar's sensual, cosmic palette of silver, grey, white, and a ghostly green and the futuristic design of the custom-designed furniture.

This newest ghostbar, at 12,500 square feet, features many original design elements, even though the basic theme of the time-tested ghostbar concept has been preserved. As Morton explains, "Although you know you're in ghostbar, it's our job to incorporate the latest materials and furniture, so the design is constantly evolving...this is the next generation of ghostbar." His partner, Scott DeGraff, is the lead designer on the project, assisted by Morton and Chicago-based 555 International.

A beautiful clientele sips specialty cocktails at a sleek, shimmering bar that is sensually back-lit with an electroluminescence from LED crystals behind high-gloss wavy surfaces behind the bar, while columns display a constantly changing spectrum of colors. DJs spin familiar, sexy sounds, and a VIP area with its own bar capacity accommodates guests looking for additional privacy. The larger of two amazing decks is furnished with ample lounge furniture and a full bar, while the second "ghostdeck"-constructed completely of glass and cantilevered over the edge of the 33-story high-rise-offers even more awesome views, including one straight down through its signature glass floor. With a relaxed, sophisticated vibe, ghostbar is ideal for pre-dinner cocktails or for late-night socializing with the most beautiful crowd in Texas.

The bars are stocked with a wide range of top-quality spirits, including fine single-malt scotches, small-batch bourbons, premium international vodkas, and high-end tequilas. Both classic and contemporary drinks are prepared by skilled mixologists with fresh ingredients and a series of signature cocktails is offered. For special events, up to 500 guests can be accommodated, and ghostbar's state-of-the-art kitchen can handle any menu, from the simplest to the most extravagant.

As part of Dallas' new 72-acre Victory Park development, the W Dallas Victory Hotel & Residences is strategically located to take advantage of the downtown's accelerating energy and is just steps away from the American Airlines Center, which is booked an average of 260 days per year with NBA basketball, NHL hockey, conventions, concerts and other events. The $3 billion project will ultimately include multiple conference venues, hotels, luxury mid- and high-rise condominium towers, class-A office space and a wide range of retail and entertainment offerings. The N9NE Group's Morton insists, "This new W in Dallas is the most impressive property in the hotel chain's portfolio. " His partner, DeGraff, follows up by pointing out, "Dallas has a spectacular urban skyline, and at ghostbar, we deliver the money shot!"

Childhood friends since the age of nine-the inspiration behind their company's name-Michael Morton (son of legendary Chicago restaurateur Arnie Morton, founder of the Morton's of Chicago steakhouse chain) and Scott DeGraff partnered in 1992 to launch the nightclub Drink Chicago. They went on to open Drink Las Vegas in 1995 prior to opening Chicago's inaugural N9NE Steakhouse and ghostbar in 2000. With the 2001 opening of the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, they debuted their highly successful dining and entertainment venues, which include N9NE Steakhouse, Rain Nightclub, ghostbar, and Skin Pool Lounge. After millions of dollars in renovations, Skin was transformed into the new, sophisticated Palms Pool & Bungalows, which opened in June 2006. In fall 2006 additional N9NE Group nightspots will be featured in the new Fantasy Tower-part of a $650 million expansion of the Palms Casino Resort- including Nove Italiano, Playboy Club Las Vegas and Moon nightclub. The upcoming $3 billion Victory Project in Dallas, TX, also opening in 2006, will be home to N9NE Steakhouse, ghostbar, Nove Italiano, and Stuff retail store. Liquid Sky, an exclusive nightspot will debut in 2007.
