InterContinental Opens Latest Resort in the Crowne Plaza Portfolio

CHANDLER, AZ, May 8, 2006. InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced that the Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz., (US) formerly known as the legendary San Marcos Golf Resort recently opened. With the addition of the historic 295-room property, there are now three Crowne Plaza hotels with more than 800 guestrooms in the state of Arizona.

'This is the fifth Crowne Plaza hotel to open this year in North America and is a terrific addition to our resorts portfolio,' said Kevin Kowalski, vice president, brand management, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts. Located in the historic district of downtown Chandler, the Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort offers all guest rooms a private patio or balcony that overlooks luxuriously, landscaped courtyards. Among the highlights at the Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort are two outdoor pools and a whirlpool, lighted tennis courts, jogging trails, fitness center and 18-hole PGA golf course with golf sessions.

The historic landmark property has three dining facilities. AJ's offers casual dining, while light fare is available in the 1912 Lounge and Mulligan's. Guest room amenities at the property include: air conditioning, dual telephone line with voice mail, coffee maker, hair dryer, in-room safe, make-up mirror, iron and ironing board. Fourteen guestrooms are suites; 12 junior suites and two Presidential suites. The Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort also offers a spectacular swim complex with outdoor Cabana Lounge and whirlpool as well as a business center, 24-hour front desk, express checkout, complimentary shuttle service within the area, same day laundry and valet, shoe shine stand, tour desk and car rental desk. High speed internet access is available in the hotel's meeting space and in the guestrooms; both wired and wireless are available.

The Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort features the newly introduced Crowne Plaza Sleep Advantage which is available at all Crowne Plaza hotels in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
