DENVER, CO, March 9, 2006. RockResorts announced today that the management of Cheeca Lodge & Spa, located in Islamorada, Florida, has ended as of March 6, 2006.

Cheeca was originally built in 1946, and for decades served as a quiet celebrity retreat and fishing lodge. The resort was acquired by Olympus Real Estate Partners and subsequently branded a RockResort in November of 2001. In May of 2003, Olympus sold Cheeca to current owners Cheeca Holdings LLC, and RockResorts retained the management contract. The current owners have begun partial conversion of hotel into privately-owned condominiums.

Under RockResorts management, Cheeca Lodge & Spa regained the AAA Four Diamond Award for lodging in 2006. The hotel also was cited by Travel + Leisure magazine as one of the 500 Greatest Hotels in the World, 2004-2005, and earned Corporate Meetings & Incentives' 2006 Paragon Award. Cheeca Lodge & Spa received a total of seven Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Adrian Awards over the last two years, including two Gold Awards. During RockResorts tenure, Cheeca Lodge & Spa was home of the annual George H. W. Bush-Cheeca Lodge Bonefish Tournament, which was discontinued in 2004.
