. October 14, 2008

KANSAS CITY, KS, March 04, 2006. An Overland Park developer will spend $1 million to renovate a hotel at Interstate 435 and Metcalf Avenue here and reopen it as a La Quinta Inn & Suites.

RBQ Hospitality Associates LLC, which owns the property, said in a written release Tuesday that it was engaging in "extensive renovations" to the former Clubhouse Inn & Suites. Blue Springs-based Rockgate Management Co., affiliated with RBQ, is overseeing the work, which is under way. The new 143-room hotel, which Rockgate will manage, is scheduled to open in May.

The hotel's rooms are designed for the weekday business traveler as well as those visiting the area, according to Rockgate. The hotel offers larger rooms, a courtyard, common areas and suites for extended stays. Rockgate also manages the Courtyard by Marriott in Blue Springs and the adjoining Adam's Pointe Conference Center and the Holiday Inn Express in Westport.
