Rezidor SAS Announces Plans for 50 Hotels Throughout Commonwealth of Independent States and Russia

BRUSSELS, February 17, 2006. Rezidor SAS Hospitality, the Brussels-based multi-brand hospitality company, announces the opening of its first Park Inn hotel in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Park Inn Azerbaijan, located in the city of Baku.

The capital of Azerbaijan, Baku is located on the Western shore of the Caspian Sea, and is Azerbaijan's largest city with many beaches and spas. The center of Baku is the old town, which is also a fortress. Most of the original walls, strengthened after the Russian conquest in 1806, are still standing, making this section of the city very picturesque with its maze of narrow alleys. The city contains many ancient buildings, including a palace, a mosque, and a minaret dating from the eleventh century. Baku is the first location in Azerbaijan to be classified as a world cultural site by UNESCO. The Park Inn Azerbaijan features 248 guest rooms, as well as a restaurant, bar and coffee shop. The guest rooms offer high-tech interactive flat screen televisions; free broadband internet access is available to hotel guests throughout all guest rooms and public areas.

The hotel's conference facilities include a fully-equipped business center, six meetings rooms accommodating up to 155 people and a ballroom. The hotel's architect is Kazim Ispahani, who had worked previously with Rezidor SAS on other projects including the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in St. Petersburg and the Radisson SAS Stad Hotel in Ankara. Ispahani's design includes a blend of marble, wood and glass-work throughout the hotel, giving it a bright and vibrant interior unlike the traditional oriental style found in many hotels in the area.

The Park Inn Azerbaijan is located in the heart of the business district of Baku, close to the Caspian Sea, and offers panoramic views of the sea and the city. The hotel is located 20 miles from Baku International Airport. The Park Inn Azerbaijan joins its sister hotel in Baku, the Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel. "We are very excited about the new addition to the growing portfolio of Rezidor SAS. The company plans to expand very fast in Russia and CIS and open 50 hotels under various brands, including Radisson SAS, Park Inn and our latest addition - Missoni hotels," says Marko Hyt"onen, area vice president, Rezidor SAS.
