InterContinental Appoints Campbell Black as Cleveland Regional Director of Ops and GM

CLEVELAND, OH, January 27, 2006. InterContinental Hotels Cleveland is pleased to announce the appointment of Campbell Black (click here for image) to regional director of operations and general manager. With 25 years of hospitality experience, Black most recently served as the regional vice president of operations and general manager at the Mark Hopkins InterContinental in San Francisco, Calif.

Bringing extensive operational and geographic experiences, Black is responsible for overseeing the operations of InterContinental's three properties on The Cleveland Clinic campus: the AAA Four Diamond InterContinental Hotel, the InterContinental Suite Hotel, and The Cleveland Clinic Guesthouse. Black also manages the hotels' extensive food and beverage outlets, including its fine-dining establishment, Classics, Ohio's only AAA Five Diamond restaurant. With an extensive background with the InterContinental Hotels Group, Black began his career at The Barclay New York where he worked for six years in the front office. Black then became executive assistant manager at the Muscat InterContinental, Sultanate of Oman; and later, the Britannia InterContinental Hotel in London, England. He was soon promoted to manager at the Mayfair InterContinental Hotel and then assumed his first general manager role with the Portman InterContinental Hotel in London before transferring to the George InterContinental in Edinburgh, Scotland.

In 1995, Black became regional vice president of Eastern Mediterranean Operations and general manager of the Athenaeum InterContinental in Athens, Greece. Relocating back to the United States in 2000, Black joined the Mark Hopkins InterContinental. Black will be joined in Cleveland by his wife Mary Kay, and their two children, Mitchell and Curtis.
