First Park Plaza Opens in China

BEIJING, January 5, 2005. Park Plaza Hotels and Resorts today held the soft opening of the 216-room Park Plaza Beijing Wangfujing, the brand's first hotel in China. Located in Beijing's Wangfujing commercial and shopping district, the hotel is being positioned to become the leading mid-scale, full- service hotel for business and leisure travelers to the Chinese capital.

The Park Plaza, which is near to popular attractions, including The Forbidden City, The Imperial. Place and Tian'anmen Square, will be managed by Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific.

Paul Kirwin, president, Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific, said the Park Plaza Beijing Wangfujing will provide business, meeting and leisure guests with "a premier, convenient location and friendly, casual style of service...."

All guestrooms feature views of the Beijing skyline; high-speed Internet access; bedside control panels; executive work desks; and security safe boxes. In addition the hotel offers business guests private dining facilities, wireless Internet access in public areas, the Park Plaza Club lounge and floors, and a business center that features the latest audio visual equipment and three meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 80 persons.

Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific includes a portfolio of eight hotels in China, including its brands of Regent International Hotels, Radisson Hotels and Resorts and Park Plaza Hotels and Resorts, with plans to open an additional three hotels in key Chinese gateway cities over the next two years.
