PALMA DE MAJORCA, January 4, 2006. During the course of 2005, Barcel'o Hotels & Resorts has added a total of 21 new hotels, which, along with existing holdings, increases the company's portfolio as of December 31, 2005 to 115 hotels and 29,278 rooms, distributed throughout 13 countries.

The chain will end the fiscal year with a total of 115 hotels and more than 29,000 rooms in 13 countries. The company has increased its 4 and 5 star hotels from 68% of holdings in 2000 to 86% in 2005. These additions are in line with the ambitious expansion plan of Barcel'o Hotels & Resorts, which envisions 150 establishments by the end of 2007, and 200 in 2010.

This spectacular rate of openings is in line with the chain's ambitious expansion plan, which intends to raise the number of holdings to 150 hotels by the end of 2007 and to 200 in 2010. To reach these goals, the chain has signed contracts for the addition of 32 new establishments in the next 2 years, while at the same time exploring other projects, primarily in Spain, the European capitals, the Mediterranean basin, and the Caribbean.

Thanks to this rapid growth, Barcel'o Hotels & Resorts has been able in just 5 years to considerably improve the quality of its offerings, increasing its 4 and 5 star hotels from 68% of holdings in 2000 to 86% in 2005. The group's aim is to focus on the middle-upper segment of the market that responds to the demands of its clientele, who basically are families with children, businessmen and businesswomen, conventions and incentives, and enthusiasts of golf and health and beauty tourism.
