. October 14, 2008

LONDON, UK, December 14, 2005. The Lowndes Hotel, London's best located boutique hotel in Knightsbridge, will temporarily close its doors on December 19, 2005 to undergo a $14.2 million refurbishment program.

"This major refurbishment will give The Lowndes Hotel a fresh, more contemporary appearance, without changing the classic, intimate feel of the property," said Jane Renton, General Manager of the hotel. "By updating our well-loved property we will be able to offer better services and amenities for our loyal guests, as well as introduce ourselves to a new breed of traveler seeking a sense of 'well-being' and tranquility," Renton added.

Scheduled to re-open in October 2006, the hotel will be re-branded as Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel and be positioned in synergy with its sister property, Jumeirah Carlton Tower just across the road.

Among the highlights of the renovation will be the addition of a new sixth floor, which will be all suites. The new floor will be four one-bedroom suites with sofa beds-two of which will have balconies-and five Junior suites. The nine total new suites, themed in blue, silver and grey shades, will bring the number of Jumeirah Lowndes' guest rooms to 87, 14 of which will be suites. The remaining rooms will feature Autumnal and Summer color palettes to inspire a sense of tranquility, along with many other small touches to promote relaxation.

In addition to the new floor and the update of the property's existing rooms, the hotel's lobby area will be completely remodeled to create flowing spaces with an art-deco influence, oak features and limestone flooring in sleek rust color tones. The public spaces on the main floor will feature a new reception and concierge area, adjoining a vibrant and stylish bar, serving light meals, snacks and cocktails.

The hotel's restaurant will be redesigned for an entirely new look and feel whilst retaining the relaxed atmosphere and warmth that has become popular with neighborhood patrons. The new restaurant will serve Mediterranean cuisine from both a la carte and table d'hote menus, and feature al fresco dining on the terrace overlooking Lowndes Square.

An intimate and flexible meetings and events space on the ground floor will also be available for private dining, cocktail parties and board meetings.

The hotel's re-branding within the Jumeirah portfolio places the property in the company of some of the most luxurious and innovative hotels in the world. Jumeirah, the Dubai based luxury hospitality group, maintains an unprecedented standard of luxury and service throughout the group's properties, which have won numerous international travel and tourism awards. In addition to the Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel and Jumeirah Carlton Tower, Jumeirah properties encompass the world renowned Burj Al Arab, the world's most luxurious hotel, the award winning Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Jumeirah Beach Club Resort and Spa, Madinat Jumeirah and Jumeirah Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa.
