. October 14, 2008

AUGUSTA, GA, November 22, 2005. A 130-room Holiday Inn hotel opened here last week. The 79,000-sf property features the brand's "next-generation" design. The $11-million Holiday Inn Augusta West-Interstate-20 is the sixth "next-generation" Holiday Inn hotel to open this year and the fourth to open in Georgia.

The property is owned by Guru Hotels of Augusta II, Inc. and managed by Shab Management, LLC under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.

The next-generation design features guestrooms with a residential ambiance. The bedspread and carpet display simple, organic patterns in colors like cream and black, and most rooms have a newly designed breakaway armoire that allows guests to see the television from anywhere in the room. Upgraded features like microwaves, a variety of lamps, refrigerators and granite vanities are standard in each room.

The residential design includes business-focused necessities like an ergonomic work station, data ports, complimentary high-speed Internet access, WiFi capabilities and AT&T VoIP phone systems.

The Holiday Inn Augusta West-I-20 also offers an indoor pool, a fitness center, a Jacuzzi, complimentary parking, same-day laundry and valet service and 2,000 sf of function space. Additionally, the hotel has Kem's Caf'e, a new restaurant concept named after Holiday Inn's founder, Kemmons Wilson, which serves three meals a day.

There are now more than 30 Holiday Inn hotels with 6,400 guestrooms in the state of Georgia with the addition of the Holiday Inn Augusta West-I-20.
