Cooper Cos. Lands Site for Hilton Hotels
SAN CARLOS PARK, FL, November 17, 2005. - Two Hilton-branded hotels totaling 300 rooms are coming to the corner of Alico Road and Ben Hill Griffin Parkway in San Carlos Park via Cooper Cos.
According to The News-Press, Memphis, TN-based Cooper Cos paid $11.25 million for two parcels of land totaling 38.1 acres in the northwest corner of the intersection. Cooper plans to build a Hilton Garden Inn with 165 rooms and an adjacent Homewood Suites by Hilton with 135 rooms and has plans for more development on the site.
CEO Pace Cooper said he expected to see the location be the "developed nexus of Southwest Florida International Airport, Florida Gulf Coast University and Gulf Coast Town Center with an excellent tie-in to Interstate 75."
