Rezidor Announces Three New Park Inns

. April 20, 2009

APRIL 20, 2009 - The Rezidor Hotel Group further extends the Park Inn portfolio and announces three new hotels: The Park Inn Abu Dhabi, Yas Island in the United Arab Emirates (204 rooms) will open at the end of 2009, the Park Inn St. Gallen in Switzerland (100 rooms) will join the group by mid 2010, and the Park Inn Dnepropetrovsk in Ukraine (250 rooms) will welcome the first guests in Q2 2011.

'Park Inn is our fastest growing brand. We started in January 2003 only - our pipeline today features more than 125 hotels with almost 23,000 rooms in operation and under development', comments Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor. 'Especially emerging markets like the Middle East and Russia/CIS offer a huge potential for this young and dynamic brand, but I'm also delighted to add a Park Inn to our Swiss portfolio.'

The Park Inn Abu Dhabi, Yas Island is Rezidor's very first Park Inn in the United Arab Emirates. It will be located adjacent to the planned Radisson Blu Hotel, Yas Island (which is also scheduled to open its doors this year), within the most prominent mixed-use development in Abu Dhabi. Besides 204 rooms the property will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a South American-themed restaurant, a lobby bar and an outdoor swimming pool with a bar. Yas Island is a mixed-use resort destination on a 2,500 hectare island off the coast of Abu Dhabi and proximate to the international airport. In November 2009, its most notable attraction is poised to open: a brand new F1 Race Track.

The Park Inn St. Gallen brings Rezidor's portfolio in Switzerland to seven hotels with 1,200 rooms in operation and under development. The hotel is ideally located in the centre of St. Gallen in north-eastern Switzerland, on the edge of the central Stadtpark, within walking distance of the traffic-free old town and 500 metres away from the existing Radisson Blu St. Gallen. The building will comprise a former hotel which is now closed for reconstruction and renovation, and a newly-built section. Services will comprise 100 rooms, a restaurant with an exciting show kitchen, a lounge/bar, two meeting rooms, and a fitness room. St. Gallen is full of historical sites - the city's main attraction is the 8th century Abbey of St. Gall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Park Inn Dnepropetrovsk will be located west of the centre of Dnepropetrovsk, a city 400 kilometres southeast of Kiev on the banks of the River Dnipro. The city has a population of over one million and is one of the country's key manufacturing and exporting regions. With a hotel market conspicuously lacking in international brands, it is considered ripe for hotel development. Future guests of the hotel will enjoy proximity to the railway station and commercial areas. It is ideally located for visitors interested in sports or theatre: it is within 2 kilometres of the Opera & Ballet Theatre and the Dnipro Arena, where 3 group matches of the 2012 European Championship will be played. The Park Inn will offer 250 rooms, an all day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge, a fitness centre with saunas as well as multiple conference & meeting rooms.
