Card Check Delivers Information to Managerial Staff

. February 02, 2009

FEBRUARY 2, 2009. Hoteliers have a valuable tool to understand today's top AH&LA legislative issue, card check. And this tool is just a click away on your computer!

First released last September, the AH&LA online card check video for a hotel managerial staff has been updated to reflect post-election Washington, D.C. It's a new political environment that promises card check will remain on Congress' agenda. AH&LA produced this video for its members in response to their requests for an easy-to-understand and easy-to-play informational piece.

Card check promises to be a costly new expense for all lodging industry businesses. This 8-minute video explains what card check is, what it will do to the average hotel's business operations, and what can be done by a manager to minimize its influence in a hotel-and what can be done to stop it in Congress this year.

New card check legislation has not yet been introduced in Congress, but AH&LA expects organized labor's number-one issue to heat up once the House and Senate address today's economic stimulus legislation.

You can download and view the updated 8-minute video via this link or access at any time via www.ahla.com/cardcheck. Take a few minutes during your staff meeting to play this video for your managerial staff and let them learn more about this threat looming larger in Congress.

AH&LA is in the final stages of producing a similar video for your employees on card check and what it will do to their work environment and how union organizers will attempt to have them sign organizing cards. It is expected to be released in the early spring.

AH&LA is committed to keeping its membership updated on this important issue. Take a few minutes and view the new video to keep yourself informed about this threat to our industry.
