Capella Telluride Introduces New Spa

Spa at Capella Offers a Unique Approach to Mountain Wellness

. January 30, 2009

TELLURIDE, CO, January 30, 2009 - Telluride's majestic mountain setting epitomizes natural beauty, and with the February 12, 2009 opening of Capella Telluride, the alpine retreat will offer a new setting for health and wellness. The Spa at Capella is a stylishly serene oasis for guests, residents and locals. It will be a boutique retreat to refresh and renew - inspired by Telluride's awe-inspiring location.

"Our goal was to develop an approachable spa concept that was equally results-driven," said Jenny Farrand, spa director of The Spa at Capella. "We want guests to feel cosseted during their stay - whether enjoying a treatment in the privacy of their guestroom or at The Spa - and we have focused on experiences that are both soothing and undeniably healing."

Located on the resort's second floor, the intimate 5,700 square foot reprieve features four single and two couples' treatment rooms, each designed with neutral, soothing colors. The couples' suites offer luxurious sitting areas with roaring fireplaces, side-by-side treatment tubs with LED light therapy, and herbal steam rooms, with one featuring a private sauna. Entering The Spa at Capella, guests walk through an all-glass wall and door entry that opens to a reception area featuring an inviting fireplace. Traveling through the corridor to their treatment room, guests are greeted by a backlit wall of glass that ends at a water feature, evoking the sense of a glowing glass waterfall.

From the indoor pool and hot tub area, guests are afforded sweeping views down Telluride Valley from a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, making a late-day dip the perfect way to catch Telluride's magnificent sunsets. Colorado's Mount Wilson and further in the distance, Utah's La Salle Mountains, are also visible. When weather allows, retractable glass doors open to the outside, and the pool's raised design gives the effect of entering from below the water level. The Spa at Capella's fitness room - featuring top-of-the-line equipment and on-site trainers - also offers brilliant views, the prime spot to catch Telluride's alpenglow before sunrise and after sunset.

The Spa at Capella offers a wide assortment of unique therapies, including:

Capella Spa Journeys

Inviting guests to consider their time a journey rather than a series of services, signature Spa Journeys offer a range of experiences designed for singles or couples in Capella's two spa suites, including:

Capella SelfSpa (50-min. - $80/$100 for two guests)

Indulge the senses in the relaxing privacy of Capella's Spa Suite with hydrotherapy and thermotherapy experiences. Guests cover their skin with therapeutic mud and enjoy the benefits of a private sauna, herbal steam room, deep soaking tub and contrasting cool mist shower to create an experience of total body renewal.

Wild Mountain Honey (4 hours - $450/$900 for two guests)

Begin with a midnight honey body exfoliation and warming scalp and hair masque followed by a moisturizing milk hydrotherapy soak. After a delicious meal enjoyed by the fire, guests complete the journey with a gentle, rhythmic body massage and sweet milk botanical facial, leaving the body deeply moisturized, soft and rejuvenated.

Lover's Ritual (3 hours - $700 for two guests)

Guests can indulge together in a side-by-side honey musk body scrub and steaming herbal compress. Next, when the skin is silky smooth, they step into a private steam chamber and massage a purifying earthen paste onto one another. A double bath filled with intoxicating scents of jasmine, neroli and clove awaits - enjoyed with a split of champagne. Following a light spa meal, couples relax during a spicy sweet couples' massage.

Facials

As Voltaire said, "His face bespoke his soul," and The Spa at Capella's wide-range of facial services are designed to maximize results, letting the best shine through. Therapies include:

Outdoorsman Environmental Repair Facial (50 min. - $135)

Designed specifically for men, this anti-aging facial helps protect and restore skin from damage caused by sun exposure and time.

Lavender Valley Organic Facial (50 min. - $135)

Capella Telluride's most gentle and nurturing facial, the experience features soothing aromas of delicate botanicals. Hydrating, softening milk joins lavender flower buds to create a luxurious foam that gently lifts away dullness and impurities.

Opulence Oxygen Infusion Facial (80 min - $190)

The Opulence Infusion combines botanical brighteners and super concentrated Vitamin C to safely and naturally treat the cause of uneven skin tone while revealing newfound luminosity and radiance via cooling topical hyperbaric oxygen. This facial is designed to refine the forehead, soften eye contour and immediately plump and smooth the lips.

Massages

The power of touch is harnessed at The Spa at Capella, as a wide-range of healing therapies invite guests to indulge in a massage, designed both for singles and couples. Choices include:

---|- Hiker's Heaven (50 min.)

Bliss for weary feet, guests enjoy a bubbling herbal bath foot soak, followed by a sweet maple scrub to softly buff away the aches of a day on the mountain. As a soothing scalp massage relieves tension, a warm, detoxifying masque draws soreness, swelling and impurities from the feet. The experience is finished with a kneading and pressure point stimulating foot massage.

---|- Spirit of the Mountains Massage (80 min.)

A poultice of healing herbs including jasmine, sweet basil and mountain lavender is steamed and used to deliver soothing warmth, detoxification and therapeutic botanicals deep into the muscles. Using a unique kneading massage technique, balancing pressure points and aromatherapy oils, the deep heat massage offers an exquisite healing experience.

---|- Essential Aromatherapy (80 min.)

Guests rejuvenate with a light, full body exfoliation, preparing the skin to absorb their choice of therapeutic essential oils. The oils are blended with an incredibly moisturizing blend of jojoba, Vitamin E and Shea butter, and pressed into the skin during a rhythmic massage.

Beauty Services

Guests can pamper themselves at The Spa at Capella with unique experiences that focus on beauty while offering anti-aging and stress reducing wellness benefits.

---|- Fire and Ice Mani and Pedi (Mani: 60 min - $70/ Pedi: 80 min.)

Circulation is increased with the contrast of a tingling cool perk-up gel and hot stone massage followed by a deep hydration masque and shoulder massage. Guests will revel in the sensation of newfound energy as their technician tends to traditional nail shaping, cuticle care and polish.

---|- Gentlemen's Hand and Foot Treatment (Hand: 30 min - $40/ Pedi: 50 min.)

Capella Telluride will buff away calluses and repair nails with a no-nonsense approach to grooming. An invigorating coffee bean scrub and pressure point massage is followed by trimming and buffing for nails.

---|- Sultry Eyes (50 min.)

Guests can enhance their most alluring feature with a multitude of beauty services in one simple session at The Spa at Capella. Beyond brow shaping, eyelash and optional brow tinting, guests indulge in the application of a revitalizing peptide growth substance that boosts micro-circulation at the hair follicle, strengthening lashes and giving them a fuller appearance without makeup. A moisturizing and wrinkle-reducing collagen eye masque with hydrating botanicals penetrates deep into the skin as guests enjoy a revitalizing foot massage that focuses on reflexology points known to correlate to the health and appearance of the eyes.
