SAN DIEGO, CA, October 25, 2006. The Second Annual Mexico Resort Development Conference: Opportunites for Foreign Investment, has announced its complete speaker roster.

This year's conference will be held December 4-6 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines, located just north of San Diego. The Conference is expected to attract 300+ commercial real estate investors and resort developers.

Dr. Jorge Casta~neda will present the opening keynote address:

Dr. Casta~neda is the former-Foreign Minister of Mexico and a renowned public intellectual, political scientist, as well as a prolific writer, with an interest in Latin American politics, comparative politics and U.S.-Latin American relations.

Born in Mexico City in 1953, Dr. Casta~neda received B.A. degrees from both Princeton University and the Universite de Paris-I (Pantheon-Sorbonne), as well as an M.A. from Ecole Pratique de Hautes Etudes, Paris I, and Ph. D. in Economics History from the University of Paris.

He has taught at Mexico's National Autonomous University (UNAM) Princeton, Berkeley and (since 1997) at NYU. Dr. Casta~neda was a Senior Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (1985-87) and was a John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Research and Writing Grant Recipient (1989-1991). Among his many books are Utopia Unarmed: The Latin American Left after the Cold War (Knopf, 1993), The Mexican Shock (New Press, 1995), Compa~nero: The Life and Death of Che Guevara (Knopf, 1997), and Perpetuating Power: How Mexican Presidents Were Chosen (New Press, 2000). Dr. Casta~neda is also a regular columnist for the Mexican daily Reforma, and Newsweek International.
