Maryann White Named GM of Westin at Times Square

. October 14, 2008

NEW YORK, NY, August 12, 2008. Maryann White has been appointed general manager of The Westin New York at Times Square. White is making her Big Apple debut after serving as the general manager for a number of New Jersey hotels for over two decades. She will oversee the operations for the award-winning 863-room hotel and its 560 employees.

White begins at The Westin New York at Times Square at an exciting time, as the hotel is undergoing a $20-million refreshment program, ahead of schedule, after being open less than six years. While the hotel, with its colorful, eye-catching facade, is not yet in need of renovation, the ownership company Tishman Hotel Corp., has decided to invest in the property, which has become synonymous with the remarkable renaissance of Times Square.

No stranger to the Starwood Hotels & Resorts family, the parent company for the Westin brand, White was most recently the general manager for the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey for nearly four years. There, she was responsible for making meeting planner satisfaction one of the highest of any Sheraton or Starwood property, and increased RevPAR by 36% in two years.

White began her hospitality career over 30 years ago as the restaurant manager for the Sheraton Riverhouse in Miami, Florida and climbed the ranks to be at the helm of properties for The Continental Hotel Companies, Prime Hospitality Corp., Hartz Mountain Industries, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts. She attended Florida State University and has participated in over 25 professional training and additional education courses.
