Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Appoints New F&B Director

JULY 7, 2008, The Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina recently announced the appointment of Ronan Doherty as its new food and beverage director. Doherty will oversee all facets of the food and beverage division, including Red Marlin, the hotel's signature restaurant, Swim, a chic poolside bar and lounge, catering services and room service for the 430-room waterfront property on Mission Bay.

"Ronan brings extensive and diverse experience and excellent leadership skills to our team," said Mohsen Khaleghi, the Hyatt's general manager. "His passion for service, creativity and his attention to detail will be a wonderful asset to our staff and guests."

A Hyatt veteran of more than 13 years, Doherty most recently transferred from the Hyatt Valencia and Santa Clarita Conference Center, where he also served as the food and beverage director. Previously, he was the assistant food and beverage director at the elite Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, a Los Angeles landmark hotel known for its Hollywood celebrities and presidential visits. For two years he helped to manage more than 300 employees and seven restaurants, including the famed Breeze restaurant, and oversaw the development and launch of the new X Bar and Starbucks at the 730-room hotel.

Doherty, who was born and raised in Greencastle, Ireland and earned a hotel and institutional catering management degree from Cheltenham University in England, also spent two years at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore as the assistant food and beverage director and the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman as the Rum Point Club property manager.

Having recently completed a $65 million renovation, the reinvented 17-story waterfront Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina features 430 modernized guestrooms, including the 140 Marina Suites, three new swimming pools with waterslides, a health club on the water's edge, the eco-friendly Blue Marble Spa and lush landscaping throughout the property.
