Voyages to Open Red Ochre Spa at Ayers Rock Resort

. October 14, 2008

JUNE 6, 2008. You've woken early to see the sun rise over Uluru; you've trekked through the ancient domes of Kata Tjuta; and you've seen the sun set from the back of a Harley. It's now time to dust off the red earth, leave the heat of the day behind and surrender yourself to the cooling therapies and relaxing touches of the masseuse at the new AUD $1.8 million (about US$ 1.7 million) Red Ochre Spa in the heart of Australia.

Due to open in early June, Red Ochre Spa brings pampering and indulgence to Uluru (Ayers Rock) and becomes the seventh spa in the Voyages group, joining existing spas including the renowned Healing Waters Spa at Silky Oaks Lodge, Lizard Island's Azure Spa and Cradle Mountain Lodge's Waldheim Spa.

Red Ochre Spa will be the perfect way to relax and unwind after a busy day enjoying a camel ride, or a Harley tour, a base walk, or any of the myriad activities available in the Red Centre. The Spa will also give guests a serene and calm environment from which to contemplate and reflect on the very special and spiritual environment they're in - Uluru, the spiritual heart of Australia.

Chris Tallent, chief executive officer of Voyages Hotels & Resorts, said: "Guests pack so many activities in during their stay with us - from early morning tours to Uluru (Ayers Rock) and sunset tours to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) - that many tell us they wish they'd stayed longer."

"Guests want more time to relax and enjoy themselves while they're here and often leave without having taken time to stop and reflect on where they are. Allowing them to indulge in a massage or one of our specialized spa therapy treatments that reflects the beautiful and ancient environment they're in will be the perfect way to wind down after a hard day's touring."

Red Ochre Spa will be built at Sails in the Desert Hotel, Voyages' premier hotel at Ayers Rock Resort. Four therapy rooms will offer a range of treatments and therapies, with two rooms offering 'dry' massage therapies and two double 'wet' rooms offering soaking tubs on the veranda and separate shower rooms.

The Red Ochre Spa has been designed with pampering and total indulgence in mind - a sanctuary where guests exchange stressed or weary states for tranquility and embrace treatments that renew energies and evoke delicious relaxation. Combining nature's intelligence and the power of touch, Red Ochre Spa's signature therapies mirror the balanced beauty of Uluru - the essence of Australia. Your spa experience will be enhanced by your surroundings, where you'll be able to relax in your private balcony bath ritual with someone special or simply spoil yourself with any one of the Spa Menu delights.

Leading skincare brand Elemis will be used exclusively at Ayers Rock Resort, developed in the UK by a specialized team, with extensive clinical and scientific studies.

Chris Tallent added: "We are constantly looking at ways to enhance and add further depth to our customers' experience and we believe that Red Ochre Spa at Ayers Rock Resort will complete that total resort experience, complementing the exceptional accommodation, superb dining and touring."
