San Francisco CVB Appoints 2008/09 Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, May 30, 2008. The San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau (SFCVB) installed Pat Gallagher as chair for the 2008/09 fiscal year at the Bureau's 98th Annual Luncheon meeting, Thursday, May 29, 2008.

The SFCVB chair presides over the board of directors and the executive committee. Gallagher will direct and guide policy at all meetings involving members, the executive committee and the board of directors. "Pat has been a major player in the visitor industry for more than three decades," said Joe D'Alessandro, president and CEO of the Bureau. "I'm honored to have such a seasoned professional serve as our chair."

Gallagher, who is the president of San Francisco Giants Enterprises, is responsible for developing non-baseball ventures and utilizing AT&T Park as a destination for non-baseball special events in San Francisco. He is entering his 32nd year with the Giants organization. He served on the SFCVB board of directors from 2000 to 2003 before joining the executive committee in 2003. He also serves as a board member for the California Chamber of Commerce and Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame.

"I look forward to my expanded role as Chair of the SFCVB and to working with the Bureau and its members to continue to promote the long-term development of the destination," Gallagher said. "Through the Bureau's targeted sales and marketing efforts, we hope to welcome a record-breaking number of visitors in 2008/2009."

The chair elect is Rodney Fong, president of the Wax Museum at Fisherman's Wharf. The vice chair is Toni Knorr, general manager of the St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco.

The secretary-treasurer is John Cope, president and managing director of the Huntington Hotel. Three board members were elected as chairs of councils that provide general policy direction and oversight to Bureau staff:

o Dan Kelleher, General Manager, San Francisco Marriott (Convention & Meetings Council)

o Alan Morrell, Store Manager, Nordstrom (Consumer Promotions Council)

o Mariann Costello, Vice President, Scoma's Restaurant (Community Partnerships Council)

The four officers and three council chairs make up the Bureau's executive committee, along with the outgoing chair of the Bureau, Herb Myers, regional business banking president for the San Francisco Bay Region of Wells Fargo Bank.

The Bureau's board of directors is comprised of 40 members and meets regularly throughout the year to review and set policy for the Bureau and its ongoing marketing efforts. Annually the board approves and oversees a budget and program of work to be executed by staff.

o David Nadelman, General Manager, Grand Hyatt San Francisco

o Lori Randolph, Vice President, General Manager, Macy's Union Square

o Solomon Rosenzweig, President & Founder, DaVinci Fusion
