NBTA's Bill Connors to Speak at FAST Redress Act Press Conference
Homeland Security Committee to Markup Bill, Send to Full House
WASHINGTON, DC, May 19, 2008.
What: Press conference immediately following the markup of H.R. 4179 - the Fair, Accurate, Secure and Timely (FAST) Redress Act of 2007. The FAST Redress Act of 2007 would establish an appeal and redress process for individuals wrongly delayed or prohibited from boarding a flight, and for other purposes.
Why: The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) has supported and urged timely consideration of the FAST Redress Act of 2007 since Representative Yvette Clarke (NY-11) introduced the bill last year.
H.R. 4179 represents necessary legislation to ensure that innocent travelers have a quick and efficient mechanism to resolve watch list "hits" that inconvenience them. Affected travelers may not be able to check in ahead of a flight online and may be subject to secondary screening at the TSA checkpoint. Frequent business travelers experience these problems far too often and are particularly in need of an effective system to resolve false positives.
Who: Representative Yvette Clark (NY-11)
Bill Connors, Executive Director & COO, NBTA
When: Tuesday, May 20, 2008
Markup at 11:00 AM, press conference immediately following markup
Where: 311 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, D.C.
