Marriott Appoints Andrew Houghton as Area VP for Caribbean and Brazil

SHANGHAI, China, April 30, 2008. Marriott International Hotels has announced the appointment of Andrew Houghton as Area Vice President for the Caribbean and Brazil. Andrew will be based in Weston, Florida effective, May 12, 2008.

Andrew has had an extensive career with Marriott starting in 1986 as Director of Sales & Marketing at the London Marriott. In 1988, he moved to one of the largest hotels in Europe, Middle East and Africa, the Cairo Marriott as Director of Marketing. From 1992-98, Andrew worked for Hilton Hotels Corp in London as General Manager Sales - Europe and as Resident Manager for the Conrad International Hotel & Casino, Istanbul, Turkey.

Andrew rejoined Marriott in 1998 when he accepted his first General Manager assignment at the Riyadh Marriott, Saudi Arabia. He later moved to the JW Marriott Cairo, Egypt as opening GM with responsibilities for the operations of the Mirage City Golf Club. In addition, Andrew worked at Marriott Headquarters, DC as Brand Executive VP for Full Service Brands from 2004-07. At corporate office, Andrew defined and managed brand positioning strategies for the Marriott, Renaissance and JW brands. Most recently, Andrew was General Manager at the international flagship hotel for the JW brand - the JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai and MEA at Tomorrow Square.
