NEWPORT BEACH, CA, April 22, 2008. Hospitality industry veteran Bill Perez has been appointed the new director of food and beverage at the Island Hotel Newport Beach, a luxury 295-room property set amidst five lush acres in Newport Center, the region's most upscale business district.

According to Ray Jacobi, managing director of the Island Hotel, in his new position, Perez will oversee all food and beverage operations for the hotel, which caters extensively to both the local community and travelers. In this capacity, Perez will oversee approximately 300 employees and dining venues including the new Palm Terrace Restaurant & Lounge, the property's newly-refurbished and re-opened fine dining restaurant and cocktail lounge; and the Palapa Pool Bar. He will also supervise 24-hour in-room dining and all banquet operations for the property, which has nearly 30,000 square feet of meeting facilities.

"We are continuing to finesse our food and beverage operations and are thrilled to add Bill to our very talented team of culinary professionals," Jacobi said.

Perez will work closely with the property's award-winning executive chef, Bill Bracken, to raise the profile of Palm Terrace, which reopened in June 2007, following an extensive renovation.

Perez most recently worked for twenty years with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, spending the last ten years at Four Seasons Aviara in Carlsbad, Calif., where he started out as assistant food and beverage director and was quickly promoted to director of banquets. Prior to that, he worked as banquet manager at the Island Hotel when it was known as the Four Seasons Newport Beach and also worked in the banquet department at the Four Seasons Los Angeles.

A native of Colombia, Perez resides in Oceanside, in North San Diego County.
