Motel Enterprises and Benson's, Break Ground
SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Watkinsville, Georgia
WATKINSVILLE, GA, April 9, 2008. Motel Enterprises and Benson's, Inc. break ground on the SpringHill Suites by Marriott, Oconee County's first hotel.
The future site is located on Daniells Bridge Road, off the Oconee Connector and Highway 316.
The newest Motel Enterprises' venture will be the first of its kind in the area with a true suite concept. The 100 oversized rooms will be split between one king and two queen beds, providing plenty of space for guests. Separate areas for eating, sleeping and relaxing within the individual hotel rooms are part of the SpringHill Suites experience, as are in-room microwaves, mini-refrigerators and coffee services. Guests also will receive complimentary Suite Seasons breakfast. Construction should last approximately 14 months. The general contractor for the Oconee County hotel is Foster & Company, based in Duluth.
The hotel will generate $130,000 annually in taxes, create 30 new jobs, and have an estimated economic impact to the community of $4.7 million.
