VELDEN, Austria, April 4, 2008. Today Schloss Velden, a Capella Hotel, announces the appointment of Roland Paar as general manager. Paar will supervise all operations of the historic 100-room chateau, which celebrates its one-year anniversary on May 28.

"We are proud to welcome Roland to the Schloss Velden and Capella Hotels and Resorts team," said Bob Warman, Executive Vice President and COO, Capella Hotels and Resorts. "With his superior international experience and proven track record of success, no one is better suited to be at the helm of our brand's debut property."

A native of Austria, Paar's experience in the luxury hospitality industry spans nearly two decades and several continents. Most recently, he spent a year as Project Development Manager of Medox Hospitality Investments in Vienna where he helped establish the Dubai-based company's European operations. Prior to that, Paar spent six years with Rex Resorts where he most notably served as general manager for the brand's Royal St. Lucian Resort & Spa in St. Lucia. During his four-year tenure as GM, Paar helped the resort earn impressive accolades including "Best Of" listings in Cond'e Nast Traveler and Caribbean Travel & Life and solidified its place at the leading luxury resort on island.

Paar worked for nearly a year at City Club Hotel Event and Congress Center in Vienna where he successfully introduced meeting and event space and a full-service spa to the 458-room hotel. Earlier in his career, Paar held food and beverage positions at the Nad Al Sheba Club in Dubai and the The Ritz-Carlton Millenia in Singapore, and was assistant to the president of General Hotel Management, a sister company of AmanResorts, where he garnered hands-on experience at the brand's Bali, Uruguay and Singapore resorts. He began his career as a food and beverage trainee at the Vienna Marriott Hotel.

Paar speaks five languages, is a member of Rotary International and is a graduate of Vienna's International Business College BHAK XII and MODUL Tourism College in Vienna, where he completed an international hotel management course with honors. He will reside in Velden with his wife and two children.
