Speakers and Agenda Set for PTLA Annual Conference

"The Changing Face of Hospitality" April 28-29, Harrisburg, PA

APRIL 1, 2008. The PA Tourism & Lodging Association will host it's annual industry awards program "Spirit of Hospitality" and the Lodging/Human Resources Conference "The Changing Face of Hospitality" on Monday, April 28, 2008, and Tuesday, April 29, 2008, respectively, at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East.

"Spirit of Hospitality" is Pennsylvania's prestigious awards program, which recognizes outstanding qualities in individuals and lodging establishments that set the standards for the hospitality industry. Awards are presented in eight categories: Lodging Employee, General Manager, Department Manager, Student, Innkeeper, Associate Member, Community Service and Guest Relations. During this elegant awards reception, the Association will also recognize the Training for Lodging Careers "Teacher of the Year."

The Conference theme "The Changing Face of Hospitality" will offer professional resources for all levels of lodging management and human resource professionals.

Components of the Conference will include a keynote address by Don Landry, CHA, former chief executive officer of Sunburst Hospitality Corporation and president and chief operating officer of Choice Hotels International. Mark V. Lomanno, president of Smith Travel Research (STR), the leading authority on current trends in occupancy, room rate and supply/demand data for the U.S. and the North American lodging industries, will offer a presentation titled "The State of the Industry."

In addition, 17 speakers will offer 12 outstanding informational workshops on a variety of topics ranging from employment diversity to "The Magic of Leadership." The Conference will also offer a Trade Show, with over 30 exhibitors expected, to give attendees the opportunity to see first hand the latest products and services available to the industry.
