. October 14, 2008

MARCH 17, 2008. Omni Hotels today announced that Kyung Soo Carroll, executive sous chef at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C., has been selected as part of the first Global Hotel Alliance Associate Exchange. He will join the food and beverage staff of Dusit Hotels at the Dusit Thani Bangkok and the DusitD2 Chiang Mai for three months where he will learn culinary preparation techniques native to Thailand, as well as share his own knowledge with the associates at Dusit.

The Global Hotel Alliance, created in 2004, is the world's largest alliance of independent hotel brands. The alliance offers a greater choice of luxury hotels across the globe for discerning, loyal customers from a growing collection of hotels which are highly respected in their home markets for reflecting the local culture. The one-of-a-kind exchange program in the hospitality industry is a unique way to expand the alliance among the associates of the various hotel brands by sharing local knowledge with others. This is the first associate exchange program between members of the Global Hotel Alliance. Future exchange programs will be developed to include other hospitality specialists, such as sales and marketing, finance and other operational disciplines.

"The ability to educate our associates regarding other cultures as a member of the Global Hotel Alliance is a truly unique career development opportunity," said Joy Rothschild, senior vice president of human resources. "We are so proud to send Kyung overseas to embark on this wonderful learning experience. We also look forward to having him bring back authentic Thai culinary techniques and the Thai culture to our organization."

Carroll has over 10 years of professional cooking and kitchen management experience. He has been employed with Omni for the last two years at the Omni Shoreham Hotel and has been responsible for hiring, training and directing a kitchen staff of over 30 employees for the $17 million dollar food and beverage operation. Prior to joining Omni Hotels, he held the positions of banquet chef and chef de cuisine at the Grand Hyatt Washington and was a supervisor and lead cook for the Park Hyatt in Washington, D.C.

Rungrote Thamtiang, restaurant manager of Il Cielo Italian at the Dusit Thani Bangkok, has been selected to join the Omni Hotels food and beverage team in the United States at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate in April.
