Mccormick & Schmick's Seafood to Open at Harrah's Atlantic City

MARCH 11, 2008. McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant, founded 35 years ago in Portland, Oregon, plans to opens it's renowned fresh seafood restaurant at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City early this summer. The restaurant will be the first of the namesake to be located in a casino hotel.

"McCormick & Schmick's is a welcome addition to our Harrah's Resort property," says R. Scott Barber, Senior Vice President and General Manager, "our customers visiting Harrah's Resorts often ask for a seafood restaurant and later this year we will be able to offer this to them."

Harrah's Resorts will now offer five restaurants, The Steakhouse, Polistina's, the Waterfront Buffet, Reflections, The Deli and newly opened Taste of the Shore food emporium. McCormick & Schmick's will have 250 seats at the new location.

The restaurant offers the freshest in seafood with between 85-110 made-to-order dishes including an extensive selection of international, national, regional and local species of seafood. The menu changes daily depending on each day's fresh seafood deliveries.

Bill McCormick and Doug Schmick teamed up in the early 1970s. McCormick originally purchased Jake's Famous Crawfish Restaurant located in Portland, Oregon. Part of the managerial talent McCormick tapped was Doug Schmick, a management trainee. The two formed a partnership in 1974, creating Traditional Concepts, a precursor to today's McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants. The company has expanded to over 50 restaurants across the country. It employs over 5,000 employees.
