ST. CHARLES, IL (September 19, 2005)-Pheasant Run Resort & Spa (1-800-4PHEASANT), the Midwest's largest entertainment resort, continues its tradition as one of the nation's elite venues for golf meetings. Meetings & Conventions Magazine, a leading publication for meeting planners, recently awarded its prestigious Gold Tee Award to Pheasant Run for the third consecutive year. The award is determined by a panel of meeting planners, who vote for those destinations they most favor when booking golf-related events.

As a Gold Tee award winner, Pheasant Run is one of only two venues in the six-state Midwest region to achieve this distinction, the other being the American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin, which hosted the PGA Championship last year. Pheasant Run, located in St. Charles, Illinois-less than an hour from Chicago-shares honors with an elite group of golf destinations including Pinehurst, The Greenbrier, The Lodge at Pebble Beach, Doral, Ventana Canyon, and the Marriott Sawgrass.

"We're very proud to be so recognized by the meetings industry," said Stan Soroka, senior vice president of Oakbrook Hotels, Inc., parent company of the resort. "We've worked very hard to make Pheasant Run an exceptional place for groups to conduct business and enjoy golf. This year, we're upgrading our golf instruction program with the addition of new practice and training facilities, and have hired new Head Golf Professional Bob Jan to head this program.

Jan, a two-time NCAA All-American, has qualified for the National PGA Club Pro Championship three times and has been a member of the Illinois PGA Radix Cup team six years in a row.

"The golf program at Pheasant Run is geared toward groups," said Jan. "We are pleased to design a golf experience that's perfect for any group, large or small. We can organize tournaments, learning and instruction programs, special competitions, even special programs for spouses and kids."

Pheasant Run is one of the few golf meeting destinations in the United States that can accommodate a wide range of corporate functions. With 473 guest rooms and more than 100,000 square feet of meeting and convention space, Pheasant Run Resort & Spa is a sought-after destination for all types of business events. The resort features two 18-hole championship golf courses - including the resort course and Prairie Landing, an adjacent links-style course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. - and three pools, a Mario Tricoci Hair Salon & Day Spa, Zanies Comedy Club, two theatres, and several restaurants and lounges.

The third consecutive Gold Tee award is earned at a time when the resort's facilities have reached a new standard of excellence. A $30 million renovation was recently completed and includes such enhancements as new Tower guestrooms, new amphitheater and additional 25,000 square foot expo center.

The Tower, with 200 guestrooms, received a major makeover with the addition of all new furniture, including new oversized executive desks, the highest quality beds and new linens and wall coverings. Each spacious room is equipped with a refrigerator and microwave, large television screens and WIFI (high-speed wireless internet access). The renovation includes six suites, including two lavish two-bedroom suites. All guest rooms feature outstanding views as the tower is the tallest structure in the area.

"These new guest rooms were designed with extensive input from a number of meeting planners," said General Manager Peter Chu. "Our commitment to ongoing improvements will continue to ensure the resort's reputation as the premier meeting facility in the greater Chicago area."

Constructed at cost of $4.5, the new 320-seat tiered amphitheater sets the stage for powerful and memorable meetings and training sessions. The facility includes state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems and each seat is equipped with a fold-out desk and high-speed internet access. By day, the venue is used for corporate presentations. By night, it is home to Noble Fool Theatricals, the acclaimed non-profit theater company which brings the Chicago theater scene to St. Charles with original productions and longstanding favorites.
