Avocet Hospitality Completes Renovation of The Admiral Hotel in Mobile, Alabama

USA, Mobile, Alabama. October 16, 2024

Stepping into the newly renovated Admiral Hotel is like entering a world where the 17th century and modern-day luxury collide. It is here that every corner tells a story, and every detail whispers the elegance of a bygone era with a cosmopolitan flair. This is the narrative of The Admiral Hotel, now reborn with regal undertones, drawing inspiration from Mobile's rich past and the visionary spirit of its founder, Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville.

In the late 17th century, under the commission of King Louis XIV, the French explorer Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville founded Mobile, Alabama. Fast forward to today, The Admiral Hotel stands as a modern-day tribute to this royal figure, envisioned by Avocet Hospitality as what Pierre might have constructed as an ode to his king.

Jon Weitz, the owner of Avocet Hospitality, shares his vision: "Our revival of The Admiral Hotel seeks to honor Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville's legacy in a way that's never been done before. We delved deep into Mobile's origins, exploring its identity beyond its Mardi Gras roots. This journey ignited our passion for Pierre's story, leading us to create a destination that mirrors the grandeur and elegance of the French court. Today, every traveler who steps through our doors will feel like a guest of King Louis XIV himself."

A Symphony of Design and Experience

Designed by Lisa Weitz, co-founder of Avocet Hospitality, The Admiral's refreshed look captures the vibrant soul of Mobile while introducing a touch of cosmopolitan sophistication. Bright jewel tones of purples and gold pay homage to the city's French-colonial and Mardi Gras heritage, creating a space where guests can revel in moments of discovery. The upside-down oak tree chandelier, reminiscent of the majestic oaks lining Governor Street, symbolizes the blend of nature and culture that Pierre so admired. Meanwhile, walls adorned with mirrors and portraits evoke the splendor of the Palace of Versailles, transporting guests to another era.

Yet, it is not just the historical elements that define The Admiral. The hotel's modern design is evident in every detail, from the sleek lines and furnishings to the amenities that ensure a comfortable stay. Here, metropolitan refinement meets an intrepid spirit, offering sensational service that anticipates every guest's need paired with unexpected delights at every turn.

Introducing Le Moyne's Chophouse: A Culinary Masterpiece

Gifting beads as a token of goodwill, Pierre fostered relationships with the Native Americans he encountered. This act of hospitality is immortalized in Le Moyne's Chophouse, where a stunning Swarovski crystal light fixture represents the beads that forged bonds of friendship. Opening its doors August 19th, Le Moyne's Chophouse will elevate the concept of dining beyond a mere meal; it will be a destination where design and haute cuisine converge, creating an enhanced dining experience unlike anything Mobile has ever seen.

Chef Jeremiah Dennis, a master butcher and charcutier, channels the spirit of Pierre's generosity and sense of discovery by using locally-sourced ingredients to narrate the destination's story through his cuisine. The flavors of Oysters Louis, charbroiled in Wagyu beef fat with pernod pearls, aromatic herbs, and topped with breadcrumbs and caviar, echo the feasts of the French court, while the decadent seafood tower is reminiscent of the Gulf waters Pierre once navigated.

The menu's show stopping prime-aged cuts of meat and fresh Gulf seafood are complemented by an impressive wine and cocktail program, featuring fresh herbs and honey from the hotel's rooftop bee colony and garden. The contemporary ambiance of Le Moyne's blends bold patterns, colors, and textures with deep hues of green, blue, and gold, creating a space of comfort and refinement.

A Grand Revival

The Admiral Hotel's revival is more than a renovation; it is a reimagination of history and luxury. As guests walk through its doors, they step into a story—one that honors Mobile's rich past while embracing modern sophistication and elegance.
