InterContinental Leadership Institute Completes its Third Annual Class
ATLANTA, GA. September 19, 2006. For the third consecutive year, members of IAHI, the Owners' Association of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and IHG executives completed the one-of-a-kind Leadership Institute - an invitation-only leadership development program. The Institute was held from August 29-September 1 at GE's John F. Welch Leadership Development Center in Crotonville, NY. IAHI and IHG continue to work closely with GE Commercial Finance and the John F. Welch Leadership Development Center to design and implement a unique leadership development program exclusively for IAHI members.
"The Leadership Institute provides a way for busy hotel franchisees and their employees executives to take time and truly analyze and enhance their skills-with the goal of becoming better leaders," says David Hart, chairman of IAHI and president and chief executive officer of Hart Hotels, Inc. in Buffalo, NY.
This year's curriculum focused on "Creating and Leading Winning Teams and Organizations." The program helped participants analyze their interpersonal style and its impact on others, receive feedback on leadership skills, and further develop the competencies important to becoming effective leaders. Thirty-two individuals were selected to participate in the program.
"The Leadership Institute provided a way for both IAHI members and IHG executives to enhance their skills and work together in an open, thought-provoking setting," says participant Alejandro Watson, corporate director of sales and marketing for IHG Mexico, based in Mexico City. Participant Bryan Curry, co-founder and chief financial officer of Associated Hotels, LLC in Chicago, says: "The Leadership Institute helped me learn new aspects about myself and my management style that will enable me to better serve my clients and employees in the future."
