. December 14, 2016

CHICAGO, IL. December 14, 2016 - Spire Hospitality, one of the nation's leading and most respected hotel management companies, proudly salutes three of its General Managers, recognized by Hotel Management magazine as members of the elite GMs to Watch appearing the November 2016 issue. Jeremy Berlin - The Westin Dallas Park Central - Matthew Wheeler - High Peaks Resort - and Scott Youngblood - Embassy Suites by Hilton Portland-Washington Square - were selected as three of the 33 General Managers highlighted in the prestigious rankings this year. Selected from reader-nominated candidates by the editorial team, the Hotel Management GMs to Watch program highlights General Managers across the nation who exemplify the attributes that make a solid leader.

“The Spire General Managers are among some of the most innovative leaders in the industry,” says Bill DeForrest, chief executive officer, Spire Hospitality. “The three recognized this year by Hotel Management magazine have demonstrated incredibly strong operational aptitude while guiding their respective teams to significantly improve guest experience.”

Directing The Westin Dallas Park Central through a massive $25 million renovation and transformation, Jeremy Berlin seamlessly led his team through all operations, sales and marketing support needs while rolling out a comprehensive training program for associates focused on the Westin core service standards, preparing for a successful launch of the new facilities. “Despite the invasiveness of the work, Jeremy was able to improve the overall guest experience scores and achieved one of the highest associate satisfaction ratings the hotel has garnered in recent years,” says Greg Horeth, chief operating officer, Spire Hospitality.

The ingenuity and drive of Embassy Suites by Hilton Portland-Washington Square (Tigard, Ore.) General Manager Scott Youngblood is often cited as an example for other GMs for improving hotel performance. “Scott is the most passionate hospitality executive I have ever encountered,” says Dick Turner, vice president of operations for Spire Hospitality. “He is all-engaging, all-present in the now, and extremely articulate in sharing his ideas and vision.”

Matthew Wheeler of High Peaks Resort (Lake Placid, N.Y.) has created a culture on property with his ability to recognize ways to cultivate relationships and create a solid bond among executives to achieve great success. “Under Matthew's direction, we are no longer individuals working towards individual goals, but a fully functioning team working toward one common goal. He truly makes those around him not only better employees, but better people,” says Tim Foley, vice president of operations, Spire Hospitality.
