Shangri-La Hotel, Tianjin Appoints TS Cheah as DoSM

Tianjin, China - May 29, 2014 - Shangri-La Hotel, Tianjin has appointed TS Cheah as director of sales and marketing, overseeing a team of 30 sales and marketing colleagues for Shangri La Hotels and Resorts' latest project in Tianjin, located in the Hedong District right beside the scenic Haihe river.

A veteran in the industry, Mr. Cheah has over 40 years of experience in hospitality. He worked at China World Hotel, Beijing for five years prior to joining Shangri-La Hotel, Tianjin in the same capacity.

Mr. Cheah's umbrella of responsibility includes sales, events management, customer sales and public relations department, in addition to overseeing the hotel's sales and marketing functions, maximising total hotel revenue and market share along with optimising profit return.

A Malaysian national, Mr. Cheah started his illustrious career in 1973 as a room service associate at Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang. After 18 years in the resort, he moved on to other international hotel brands before returning to the Shangri-La family in 1999 as director of sales and marketing at Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen. His tour of duty also includes Dalian and Chengdu in his 15-year stint in mainland China.
